about

The concept album, "In Search Of The Dream Master", is centred around the following theme: the rich ancient civilization of Niel Na, who deified a mirror known as the "Silver Sun". This mirror was forged by the master-smith of the sea-faring island civilization, and he became known by the legendary moniker "The Dream Master". It was said that those who looked into his mirror would be able to see and manipulate the dreams of others. The mirror was gifted to the King and Queen of Niel Na, and the Dream Master earned his title as the top smith in the land, however, the King soon grew greedy with power. Fearing the Dream Master's abilities, and not wanting him to create another mirror, the King had the Dream Master executed. However, following this event, it is said the Dream Master's soul continued to live in the mirror, and he tortured the greedy King, driving him to insanity through his dreams, each time he looked into the mirror. Soon afterwards, the civilization collapsed after numerous wars and a plague, and was forgotten to history, save for in myths and legends.

Millenia later, following the discovery of the Americas, Australia, and the exploration of Africa and Asia, some British sailors decided to search for the island where the legendary kingdom and the silver mirror once existed. Led by their captain, a former patient and resident of room 337 in a renowned psychiatric ward who claimed to know the location of the treasure, they set sail. One of the sailors writes back to his loved one: "Through wind and storm" they sailed "on oceans far away", in their ship, The Winterchild, in search of this treasure. They finally reached the island after a storm, in which their ship is destroyed. This sailor (the one who previously wrote back to his loved one) explores the island, and finds the ancient lighthouse of Niel Na, and inside it the silver mirror. He glances into it, and sees everything: the future of humanity (including concepts such as space travel), as well as witnessing the fall of the ancient kingdom to war and plague. Eventually, he informs the other sailors of the lighthouse, but keeps the mirror hidden, fearing how its power could be used for evil. The sailors find some ancient boats nearby, still in working order, and sail home.

This album, recorded in late 2021 to early 2022, tells the story in song form, with nine songs including a 22 minute suite at the end. I have also included four bonus tracks that did not make the final album.
